Join Amelie Gislot, experienced childbirth educator, certified haptonomy teacher, and yoga instructor for our six hour comprehensive childbirth education class. Amelie aims to demystify birth fears by providing exposure through teaching birth anatomy and pain experiences. Her goals is to empower you, expectant parents, with self-advocacy skills, reflection on birthing preferences, and support for all types of births, ensuring you feel positive about your birth experience.

What can you expect from our class?
You will gain a clear understanding of the birth process. This course will cover pregnancy and birth anatomy, what to expect as labor begins, your birthing choices, and how to prepare. You'll also learn practical strategies for managing labor, including movement, comfort techniques, and pushing methods.

Introduction to childbirth: Get an overview of what to expect in this comprehensive childbirth course while also hearing different birth experiences. These stories include hospital births with and without epidurals, deliveries at independent birth centers, and home births.

Pregnancy and labor anatomy: Explore the structure of pregnancy and birth in depth. Learn about the role of the uterus, the mechanics of contractions, and the importance of pelvic alignment in preparing for birth.

Pregnancy: physical, emotional, and so many more changes: Understand the physiological shifts that take place during pregnancy and how to manage common discomforts such as pelvic girdle pain.This is also an opportunity to discuss preparing for your parenthood journey, both emotionally and practically.

The Labor Process: Discover what to expect during labor, including the hormones that drive the process and how to naturally encourage their release to help labor progress efficiently.

Birth Preferences: Exploring Your Options: Learn about various birthing options so you can make informed decisions that align with your needs.

Managing Labor: Comfort Techniques, Positions, and Partner Support: You’ll also discover ways to create more space in the pelvis to facilitate birth, whether you’re planning an unmedicated delivery or using an epidural.

Expect the unexpected: In this section, we’ll explore how to navigate situations when things don’t go as planned. We’ll discuss effective communication with your medical team, potential scenarios to prepare for, and strategies for coping emotionally with worst-case situations.

Post-Birth Care: To wrap up the course, we’ll walk you through what happens right after birth, from postpartum recovery to newborn care.Learn about the immediate steps taken for both you and your baby, along with the options available to ensure a smooth transition into the first moments of parenthood.
About Our Classes:
The class fee for non-doula clients is $350 and $275 for Madam Doula clients. Each class session runs seven hours, six class hours and one hour for lunch. You also receive a print workbook. This class is held at Nurturing Touch & Wellness (21631 Ridgetop Cir, STE 225, Sterling, VA 20166.)
