Mary's Favorite Baby Products

Updated: May 29, 2023

Hi there! Mary here. I have been working as a postpartum doula for two years, so I have hands-on experience with the majority of baby products on the market. I have published a few blog posts over the past few months discussing some of the newborn and postpartum products that we recommend. You can find some of those recommendations below:

Today, I'd like to share a few of my all-time favorite baby items. I am currently not planning on starting a family anytime soon, but if I found out that I was expecting, these would be the first items in my Amazon cart! These are the products that I purchase for my pregnant friends and family members. I hope that you find some of the recommendations below helpful!

Direct links to the products recommended here will be listed at the end of the article.

Mary's Favorite Baby Products

Boba Wrap

Please get yourself a Boba Wrap! My back has been saved by my Boba Wrap, which is in my car at all times. A big part of my job is taking care of newborns while their parents rest, but I don't like being marooned on someone's couch with a baby in my arms. The wrap allows me to hold the baby while also giving me the ability to help out around the house. I can do dishes, fold laundry, and help entertain other kids while baby is snug in my wrap. Some parents are turned off by wraps because they think they're too difficult to put on, but I promise that after three practice runs with the Boba you'll be good to go!

Large Muslin Swaddles

I love the baby swaddles that secure with Velcro or zippers- but large muslin swaddles are perfect for double swaddling, which is the key to a happy baby! Muslin is light enough that the baby will not overheat if he is double swaddled. I also love that these swaddles are large enough to be used throughout the first few months of a baby's life- other swaddles miss the mark because they are too small and babies outgrow them almost immediately.

Frida Baby Nose Aspirator

Have you ever tried to suck boogers out of a baby's nose? It's terrible. No one is happy in that situation. I love the Frida Baby Nose Aspirator it works easily, quickly, and efficiently. The aspirator bulbs that hospitals pass out to new parents aren't usually strong enough to remove much from the nose, but the Frida Baby model allows parents to control the pressure used. Taking care of a congested baby can be taxing but this aspirator makes everything easier.

Gas Drops

I am a big fan of gas drops! It's totally normal for babies to experience gas and discomfort in the first few months of life. Gas drops break up larger gas bubbles into smaller ones, providing quick relief to a gassy baby. I have worked with babies experiencing severe gas and these drops have made such a difference. When a baby is experiencing discomfort from gas pain, I will utilize gas drops, bicycle the baby's legs, and burp the baby as often as necessary to relieve the pressure in the stomach.

Baby Brezza

I work with a lot of families that choose to formula feed. Formula is not as easily accessible as breastmilk, especially at night. Formula needs to be measured, then mixed, and then warmed. I absolutely love to Baby Brezza because it turns making a bottle from a chore into a breeze. This is an expensive item, but you will save a lot of time using a Brezza, and in my opinion, the Brezza is worth every dime.
